Getting Started
- Install Vyrra on a supported iPhone.
- Prepare the speech model when prompted. Keep Vyrra open; the first setup can take one or two minutes.
- Allow microphone access when you first record.
- Optionally add Vyrra Keyboard in iOS Settings. Normal typing works without Full Access; enable Full Access only for local Vyrra session status, result insertion, and enabled shortcuts.
- Start dictation in Vyrra or run Start Dictation from Shortcuts, Siri, Spotlight, or a supported Action Button. Return to your text field to finish the matching session and insert the fresh result.
Model Setup
Vyrra may need to download and prepare a speech model before transcription works. If setup is slow, keep the app open, stay on Wi-Fi when possible, and make sure your phone has enough free storage.
Keyboard Companion
The Vyrra keyboard is optional. It provides normal typing and next-keyboard switching without Full Access. With Full Access, it can show local Vyrra session state, finish or cancel a matching session, insert the fresh result, and expose enabled shortcuts. It does not record audio or launch Vyrra. Start dictation in Vyrra or with the system-provided Start Dictation App Shortcut, then return to the original text field.
Troubleshooting
Microphone permission
If recording does not start, open iOS Settings, find Vyrra, and confirm microphone access is enabled.
Session controls are unavailable
Confirm the speech model is ready and Full Access is enabled if you want local session controls and insertion. Start dictation in Vyrra or with Start Dictation, then return to the original text field. The waveform activates only while the main app reports a matching listening session.
Slow first run
The first model preparation can take longer than repeat recordings. If the app appears stuck for several minutes, quit and reopen Vyrra, confirm your connection, and try preparing the model again.
Text did not paste
After starting dictation in Vyrra or with Start Dictation, return to the original text field and keep Vyrra Keyboard visible until processing finishes. If automatic insertion does not run, use the result control or paste the copied result. Some secure fields and apps restrict custom keyboards.
Saved recording
If transcription fails after recording completes, Vyrra may offer Retry and Discard. Retry uses the protected local recording; Discard removes it. Saved recordings expire after 24 hours.
Offline use
Offline transcription should only be expected after the selected model has already been downloaded and prepared on the device.
